Connie Hudspeth Campbell, 90, of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Born in Belmont, she was a native of Gaston County and a daughter of the late John Frank and Sadie (Mullis) Hudspeth. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Campbell, to whom she was married for 26 years, prior to his death on January 30, 1979. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Rev. F. Mason Hudspeth and one sister, Ann Fox.

Surviving is Connie Walton of the home and Rabun Gap, GA who was like a daughter to her. She is also survived by one brother, Terry Hudspeth (Martha) of Gastonia; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Evans of Franklin and Patricia Price of Lancaster, SC. Also surviving are several wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as her dedicated caregiver, Margaret Howard, of Franklin.

Connie began a career of 41 years as a dedicated secretary/bookkeeper at Franklin High School, where she exemplified professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic. She faithfully served the principals, teachers, and supported all the students in their activities until her retirement of June 30, 1994. She was a friend and mentor to many during her years of service.

She was a member of Iotla Baptist Church for 65 years, where she served in numerous capacities as long as her health would allow her to attend. Serving as Music Director for 25 years, she was also active in the Katherine Sunday School Class, church choir, Discipleship Training, Women’s Missionary Union, JOY Group, Sew’n Sews, as well as serving on the Helping Hands Committee. Connie was fully devoted in every aspect of her church and church family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 1, at Iotla Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Tony Ledford, Kenneth Coalley, Bucky Asby, David Fox, Bryon Farris, Wayne Lynch, Steve Norton, and Matt Fox. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Katherine Sunday School Class and the John H. Campbell Sunday School Class.
